When Some Snoring Cures Fail

A person who is a chronic snorer will no doubt want to find out everything he or she can in order to prevent and avoid snoring for good. Sometimes, he or she will go the usual route and explore solutions like the good old tennis ball trick; if you don’t know what it is, it involves you having to stick or a sew a tennis ball onto your pajama top or shirt so you would be prevented from lying flat on your back as you sleep. Okayyy, that’s a fair enough snoring cure–after all, lying flat on your back practically guarantees that you will snore. Sometimes, snorers will just pile on extra pillows to keep their heads elevated, too. Again, if the cause of your snoring is your sleep position, these snoring cures are perfectly sound and effective.

Snorers who are overweight may try a snoring cure that doesn’t seem like one, but will actually help them in the long run healthwise and not just with their snoring: losing weight. Losing weight will ensure that you will be able to breathe much more easily and that any fat around your neck will lessen, giving more room for air to pass through your mouth and throat during your sleep. Snorers who also happen to be smokers will find that quitting smoking is one of the most effective snoring cures they can try; eliminating cigarette smoke from their system will cleanse their throat of any harmful substances that irritate the passageway.

Sometimes, some of these snoring cures aren’t enough to put an end to snoring altogether. So what you can do in this predicament is to consult with your doctor and find out if he or she will be able to prescribe some medicines that could curb your snoring or perhaps even recommend any methods that could put a stop to your snoring for good.

If homemade snoring cures aren’t your body’s cup of tea, you might want to look into other snoring remedies. Try nasal strips to help you breathe more easily and use these at night. Using throat sprays are also said to curb snoring, because they “oil” your throat area so that air won’t make too much of a sound as you breathe in and out at night.

Alternatively, if absolutely none of these snoring cures can remedy your snoring, you may have a more serious problem on your hands. Sleep apnea is one of the causes of snoring, and could worsen if left untreated. Consider getting surgery if your physician has determined that you do suffer from sleep apnea.
